      高质量利用外商直接投资（FDI）对西部陆海新通道沿线区域推进高水平对外开放和实现“双碳”目标具有重要意义。本文基于2003-2019年西部陆海新通道沿线省份面板数据，构建普通面板模型和以金融发展与科技创新为门槛变量的门槛模型，考察西部陆海新通道沿线区域FDI对碳排放的影响及其门槛效应。研究发现：样本期内西部陆海新通道沿线区域FDI的流入增加了当地碳排放，“污染天堂”假说成立。西部陆海新通道沿线区域FDI对碳排放的影响显著存在基于金融发展和科技创新的双门槛特征。据此，建议西部陆海新通道沿线区域要持续推动绿色科技和绿色金融创新，不断深化外商投资管理体制改革，更大力度吸引和利用高质量FDI，有效发挥FDI的“污染光环”效应。

英文摘要:

      High-quality utilization of foreign direct investment (FDI) is of great significance for promoting high-level opening up and realizing the goal of "double carbon" in the regions along the new international land-sea trade corridor. Based on the panel data of provinces along the new international land-sea trade corridor from 2003 to 2019, this paper constructs a common panel model and a threshold model with financial development and scientific and technological innovation as threshold variables to investigate the impact of FDI on carbon emissions along the new international land-sea trade corridor and its threshold effect. The study found that FDI inflow along the new international land-sea trade corridor increased local carbon emissions during the sample period, and the "pollution paradise" hypothesis was established. The influence of FDI on carbon emissions along the new international land-sea trade corridor is characterized by double threshold characteristics based on financial development and scientific and technological innovation. Therefore, it is suggested that the regions along the new international land-sea trade corridor should continue to promote green technology and green finance innovation, continue to deepen the reform of foreign investment management system, make greater efforts to attract and use high-quality FDI, and effectively exert the "pollution halo" effect of FDI.
